As EXAKT’s expertise in cutting & grinding materials expanded, it became increasingly important that embedding materials and protocols be designed to enhance the process. Some of the embedding media used in metallography and histology were not appropriate for either the materials or the process.

In conjunction with Kulzer/Heraeus of Germany, EXAKT developed an embedding media that requires no exothermic activity and, once polymerized (initiated by exposure to yellow and blue lights — 450 nanometer), has a low plastic deformation and thus grinds with minimal clogging of cutting tools or grinding papers. Various adhesives are available for use with different protocols and applications.
