The EXAKT E Series combines the flexible technologies of production mills with state-of-the-art control and programming. All in a compact size, ideal for lab or pilot plant.

A unique, feature-rich, electronically controlled three roll mill that brings impressive new levels of operation and flexibility to bench-top formulating. The highly sophisticated control features normally found only on the most up-to-date production mills can now be used in product development, pilot plant projects and small production runs. The remarkable new EXAKT 80E offers exceptional operational flexibility as well as providing outstanding reliability and repeatability. And, the EXAKT E Series is operator-friendly.

All E Series models meet or exceed the safety requirements specified in ANSI.

E-Model features:

Unique Dual Mode Gap Control

• The EXAKT E models allow you to control the gap between the rollers (and thus the dispersion qualities) in two modes
  • Gap mode - A quantitative setting to a specific gap value (in microns)
  • Force mode - A quantitative setting to a specific line pressure in the gap (in Newtons/mm)
• The gaps are continuously monitored and adjusted by the control system to maintain the pre-set value which also provides continuous, automatic roller alignment
• The gaps can be independently set to simultaneously operate in either mode with independent monitoring and control in the mode selected
• The operator can change the mode of gap control during operation

Programmability and Scale-up

The electronic control package has several levels of features

• Operational parameters can be stored in 99 discreet programs including sub-programs for products requiring multiple process runs
• Parameters that can be set are roller speed and gap settings (in either mode)
• The control system will default to last program run on the mill when the main power supply is turned on.
• RS 232/USB interface capability (optional) providing Data Logging etc.
• The operator control panel provides real-time operational displays in both operating modes that translate to larger volume production conditions (scale-up)
  • In gap mode setting, the user-defined gap setting and the actual force value are displayed
  • In force mode the user-defined force value and both the actual (corresponding) gap and force values are displayed

New Levels of Safety

Incorporated into the EXAKT E Series are new safety features for bench-top mills:

Cleaning mode – the mill defaults to the maximum gap spacing and minimum torque.

Reverse roller direction - once stopped by either the emergency stop system or during normal operation, the direction of the rollers can be reversed. Once activated, movement in the reverse direction is controlled in steps until the foreign object can be removed from between the rollers.

Emergency stop function - in the event of emergency stop activation, the rollers are automatically opened to the widest possible gap.

The EXAKT E Series was specifically designed for manufacturers who need extraordinary precision and control of particle dispersion in small quantities. In applications that range from color blending in printing inks and cosmetics to nano-particle dispersion for electronics, the EXAKT E Series provides a means of achieving extremely precise particle size reduction/dispersion in a remarkably reproducible format. Product development, pilot plant projects, small production runs - only the EXAKT E Series offers you the flexibility, precision and control that fit your requirements.

Roller materials available with the E Series are hard-chrome-plated steel, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, silicon carbide and tungsten carbide coated steel.

All models are equipped with the EXAKT universal scraper system. This system allows a cost-effective and rapid exchange of scraper knives. The steel, plastic and ceramic scraper knives offered by EXAKT can be easily substituted based on specific product requirements.

All models are fully equipped with the following components:

• Cooling and heating capability in the roller system
• Stainless steel hopper
• Universal scraper system
• Splash tray to facilitate cleaning

• PFA Coating on scraper aprons and hoppers
• Datalog software
